Reading Teacher Level 1 begins by introducing the continuous sounds, such as the /s/ and /m/ sounds, since these are the easiest to teach and learn. In Level 2, phonemes /T/, /I/ and /N/ are introduced followed by the phoneme /O/ in level 3.

Teaching Tip: Participation

Take a moment after every class and give yourself a grade for participation. Ask yourself these questions: How open are you to your students? How do you encourage them to get involved? Do you let students know you appreciate their participation? Sometimes we can feel defeated by our reaction to students’ participation. Remember, student participation is dependent on teacher participation.
